Jaqurrius Bids Farewell on Emotional New Track 'Goodbye'

Mississippi artist Jaqurrius has returned with a new single, “Goodbye”, a track that sits somewhere between melodic rap and sorrowful singing. The release continues a productive run for the artist, arriving after his September singles “Feel None” and “Writing Our Name In Cursive”, and it leans into the emotional storytelling that has become a hallmark of his recent output.

Jaqurrius, whose real name is Lorenzo Hudson, is also an entrepreneur, and he releases his music through his Camp X brand and his own independent label, Adjust Maintain Achieve. Working outside the major-label system has not narrowed his sound. His material blends hip-hop and pop with polished, carefully shaped commercial songwriting, and “Goodbye” fits that description neatly: accessible in structure, but carried by a reflective, melancholic vocal performance.

Talking about how the song came together, Jaqurrius has played down any grand concept behind it. By his account, the track grew out of an ordinary writing day rather than a drawn-out creative struggle, and the process felt refreshingly undemanding. The spark, he says, came from hearing a beat by one of his favourite producers; he liked it immediately and felt it would suit an emotional story, and the song developed from there.

As a piece of sequencing, the single also makes sense. “Feel None” and “Writing Our Name In Cursive” established the reflective direction of his September output, and “Goodbye”, judging by its title and his description of it, continues in that emotional register rather than breaking from it. For an independent artist releasing through his own label, that kind of consistency helps listeners know what to expect while still giving each track its own identity.

That simplicity may be part of the record’s appeal.

Rather than forcing a concept, “Goodbye” sounds like the product of an instinctive session, with the production setting the tone and the writing following where it led. For listeners who followed the September releases, the new single offers another chapter in the same vein: personal, melodic and openly emotional, delivered through the independent set-up he has built around Camp X and Adjust Maintain Achieve. “Goodbye” is available to stream now.
